Entrepreneurship in Canada
- Canada’s Total Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA) is 8.9%
- Canada’s TEA is down from 11% in 2001 due to the decline in new ventures
- The decline was mainly due to a drop in necessity driven entrepreneurship
- 7.4% of TEA is opportunity driven and only 1.1% necessities driven (in 2002)
- Angel support also declined in Canada from 3.8% to 3.2%
- 11.7% of Canadians desire to start a new business in the next three years
- Western Canada and Ontario are the most entrepreneurial regions
